Audi has made several significant contributions towards the idea of making self-driving cars the norm. These plans are gathering momentum now, as Audi revealed its new stunning Smartwatch which has the ability to communicate with your car. The design is stylish, and the technology impressive enough to please the most discerning of spies.
Audi received excellent publicity recently, when its technical development board member, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, announced a wearable innovative Smartwatch, which can control your car from a distance.
The person wearing the Smartwatch, can communicate directly with Audi’s piloted driving A7 prototype which it is connected to wirelessly. The crux of the Smartwatch is its essential functions and features. The initial design displays shows how the driver can to unlock the car, but it’s not yet clear if the wearable communication device will have all the key features, such as turning on the engine of the car, controlling the temperature, opening windows, playing music and the like.
Secondly, the new Smartwatch uses NFC (near field communication) technology, which means that it keeps working, even if the battery is exhausted. Consequently, one cannot get locked out of the vehicle if the Smartwatch is low on power.
Calling it a kind of “mobile key,” the company didn’t offer much detail on the functions of the Smartwatch, or when it will be available. However, just seeing the notion of a wrist control for one’s car presented by an established player like Audi is pretty exciting.
