Milan, June 23, 2014 – CSI S.p.A., an IMQ Group company, has finalized the acquisition of Prototipo Technologies S.r.l., a company operating in the automotive sector.
This is a remarkable acquisition, since it creates the largest Italian center for automotive testing, trial and certification in the market.
CSI S.p.A.specializes in testing and certification for the automotive market. It is also a leading company in other product sectors, such as food, packaging, fire-resistant structures, toxicity, thermal engineering, and acoustics. Prototipo Technologies S.r.l. operates in vehicles and systems-components experimental engineering, and in the verification of automotive components since 1991.
“By acquiring Prototipo,” said Mr. Pasqualino Cau, CSI S.p.A. Vice-President, “the IMQ Group, whose leading position in the provision of services for the automotive industry both on a national and an international level is already established through CSI, increases its leadership in the automotive sector and creates one of the most qualified Security Centers in Europe, capable of dealing with all the problems related to cars’ active and passive security. We are now capable of offering the broadest range of services to vehicles and automotive components producers.”
Visibility and European scope are not the only advantages of this transaction. The acquisition involves a potential growth of the associated activities, at the same time as strengthening the IMQ Group role as a provider supporting the production system. “IMQ operating scopes are increasingly diversifying,” added Mr. Giorgio Scanavacca, Group Chairman. “Our testing and verification capabilities are becoming more and more of an essential support to enhance the quality of the companies. The expansion of services provided to the automotive field will affect IMQ Group’s activities and push turnover into the 100 million Euros bracket, with 700 employees and several hundred freelance consultants.” This will be supplemented by a renewed competitive capability, aimed at increasing the market share hitherto acquired.
Opportunities in competitive terms were also outlined by Vincenzo Ruocco, Managing Director of Prototipo, who expressed his satisfaction for the operation: “Becoming part of an important Group, whose image and reliability are widely recognized, will enhance Prototipo’s know-how and assets, acquired over more than twenty years of activity in the field. This experience, appreciated in the market, is now at the service of a larger and more complete structure with a huge potential for excellence.”
This experience was also consolidated thanks to the management of Centrobanca Sviluppo Impresa SGR (UBI Banca Group) who, through the Business Development Fund, cooperated in Prototipo reorganization development and growth. Its Managing Director, Giuseppe Gilardi said, “I am happy that SGR work contributed to enhance and stabilize Prototipo skills and employment levels over time, enabling its participation in the IMQ Group.”
Scanavacca concluded: “The IMQ Group Automotive Security Center shall be strongly characterized by research and innovation, and shall provide European companies with a reference point to cope more effectively with the challenges of globalization. In this way, we hope we can contribute to the protection and increase of production volumes in a field such as automotive, which is an asset worth protecting.”
